Summary: Hebrews: keep pursuing faith in Jesus our high priest. The letter to the Hebrews provides us with a rich and unique perspective on the work of Christ on behalf of his people. The unknown author casts his message in the form of a sermon that challenges believers to keep moving forward in their faith. Jesus, he emphasizes again and again, is our great high priest whose once-for-all sacrifice provides full and final forgiveness of sins. Negatively, this means we should look nowhere else for spiritual fulfillment. Positively, we are encouraged to enter fully into the realm of grace that has at its center our heavenly high priest. By presenting Christ's work in the framework of the Old Testament sacrificial system, the author enhances our appreciation of all God has done for us in his Son and encourages us to take full advantage of his provision for our need. -- Back cover.Summary: "The Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament series is the go-to resource for pastors and Bible teachers looking for deep but accessible study that equips them to connect the needs of Christians today with the biblical text"-- Provided by publisher.
